I own a salon. Guys' haircuts range from $25-$30, and the tips range from $5-$10. Girls' range from $40-$58, and tips range from $5-15.
The girl taking your change and leaving is terrible etiquette, and if I heard someone at my salon did that, it wouldn't be pretty.
