Goodness. BET! They can't call if you don't bet. On the first hand, you have top and bottom pair on a coordinated board, NOT one to slowplay on. Many turn cards can come and you'll wish you had protected your hand.

2nd hand, bet more. You might be able to check the flop, but when you're ready to bet, bet more. If they have any sort of hand, they'll call the bigger bets anyways. If they don't, well then you weren't getting much out of the hand to begin with.
