Default Re: I hit everything thin. Advice?

[ QUOTE ]
The bottom of my swing seems to be in a different place on every swing. I also have a hard time mentally making the club drive into the ground - my instincts wanna avoid the ground.

Any tips on ball contact?

Take a bag of balls to the chipping green. Lay your golf bag on the ground, across your path to the target, about 4 or 5 feet in front of you.

With your 9 iron, practice hitting chips with the mental picture of driving the ball into the bag. (done correctly, the chips will go over the bag)

Start with short shots. Gradually increase the clubhead speed until you are chipping too far. Take this drill (idea) to the range and practice the same technique on 40 yd shots(still with a 9 iron).

As you get more comfortable with the pinching feeling at impact, gradually lengthen the distance.

The idea is to overcome your instinct to avoid the ground.

Best of luck.
