the funny thing is, most if not all of these Texas road gamblers that we now idolize, wouldn't have tolerated all of this diversity just 20-30 years ago.

This was my first response, but I did read the whole thing, and I think he is making a different point about diversity. I appreciated this more than I thought I would.
