In 2003, Francisco Liriano was injured with a minor shoulder problem. Prior to that, he was a flamethrowing kid in rookie ball with high, high upside.

This trade is [censored] embarassing both at the time of the trade and the results of the trade. Let's also not forget that instead of offering A.J. arbitration, they decided to release him without it (thus getting no draft picks) and sign MIKE MATHENY.

I will defend to the death my position that this is a top three worst trade of all time (Bagwell for Andersen and Babe Ruth for a Snickers bar are the others).
