If you want explosiveness and strength as well than these are your best bet. If you've never done freeweights than you are better off reading the FAQ and doing some Starting Strength first, and looking to start power cleans in a month or so.

Yeah, learn the basic compound movements first before going into olympic lifts.
I would say the following items are going to improve your skill, in order of importance:
practice, footwork drills/practice, sprinting, squats, power cleans, deadlifts.
