Your job creates your life-style. Great, you only make 30k a year, so you better not buy that car because you may not be able to afford it if your company downsizes.
A one bedroom bungalow in Los Angeles costs 1 million, a three bedroom.... If you want to raise a family, have a car, etc, your life-time earnings better be in more than $500,000.
I agree that Leno is not that good, but he gets ratings, companies pay advertising, and this money is shared.
Not anyone can write. Not anyone can play basketball. Not anyone can direct a good film. Not anyone can run a multi-national company. I can't justify them being paid the same as an accountant, but this can derail the thread. Incentive goes a long ways toward creating drive.
