I had problems with my work machine running vista.
This worked for me:
Windows - run:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Audio
DisableProtectedAudioDG
Change the 1 to a 0.
Restart computer.
Profit.
