Re: some omaha (&HL) questions
The Mirage in Vegas spreads a pretty regular 5/10 O8b game, and if you get the right time/table, you can crush that game. The Orleans is the only casino in Vegas that I know that runs a weekly Omaha H/L Tourney, so check them out too.
For my local cardroom, Mountaineer spreads a 3/6 H/L game with a full kill, which isn't a bad game, either. Sometimes they bump it to a 5/10 game, too.
PLO is a tough game to play because of the swings. It's not like Hold em, where you can be a 4:1 favorite in a hand... There just are too many draws to beat you, which is why a hand like AAKK Double Suited is STILL not a monster favorite over a hand like 8-9-10-J Double Suited... You can lose a lot of money there if people start getting out on you. A lot of places that run a steady PLO game have a pot-cap to protect the players from going broke on what typically amounts to nothing more than a coinflip.
Omaha H/L is probably my favorite game to play live, and I'm under the age of 30... Which obviously makes me the exception.
