Default Re: Borderline push? Straddled pot and a in the dark raise

[ QUOTE ]
I have 200BB and the player to my rights put in the straddle, and i put in the second straddle for 8€, then the player to my left (who covers me) puts a in the dark raise of 40€. Everyone folds to me and I look down at A8s, is it +ev to push here?

That doesn't look borderline. That looks like pushing is easily better than folding. It is even true if you push and flip your cards face up. The Sklansky-Chubukov rankings suggest that it is better to push from the small blind with A8s and then turn your hand face up than to fold whent he effective stacks are up to about 45 big blinds. The dead money from the blinds and your initial straddle make this only slightly less favorable. The effective stacks are about 10 times the size of the blind raise, so pushing is much better than folding. Also, if you don't flip your hand over, your opponent may fold A9 or 22 (22 is an underdog against A8s, but it has the odds to call) or may call with A7 or KQ.
