I'm not sure if this was already said, didn't read the thread.
What I would do is, as I watched more and more football, learn what strategies I liked the most, and decide how "I" would build a team if I were a General Manager. For example would you focus on a defensive team, one that can run the ball really well, a semi-balanced team, etc. Where do they invest their money? In big name QBs, RBs, etc? Or whatever. Then just try to find the team that is most similar to what you would do and root for them.
