This is totally not the case, if you walked into my house and sat down my wife would be sitting in your lap nuzzling into your face in like 1-3 minutes.

OP, no dog, maybe a cat. Getting a dog would be horribly cruel. They're pack animals and being alone really reallly hurts them.
