What stakes are we playing? To set up a scam involving multiple parties, especially one including "inside" workers, takes planning, and trust amongst thieves. If the take is merely a couple of bucks then it is unlikely at a small stakes private club. I'm more inclined to believe either the guy is picking up on a dealer idiosyncrasy or just plain "luck"

I like to sit in the 1/10 seats. I just feel more comfortable in them next to the Dealer and I used to be a tad superstitious about sitting in those seats (now I just suck in all seating positions). If a player is more comfortable sometimes he plays better poker.
