This isn't really the best example of what I'm asking about conceptually, but I guess my question is: what kind of non-ideal or possible even -EV situations are "good enough" short-stacked?

Obviously I can't re-steal with my stack. There's a chance someone opens light and I catch them, of course -- but if I wait there's a chance that I dwindle down until it's almost insignificant when I double, too.

Again, I don't think I'm going to find spots to open pots and pick up the blinds and antes from late position at this table, and when I do it would probably seem pretty transparent to an observant player, as it would probably end up being the first time it's been folded to me there.

I never call here, but considering these circumstances, does anyone else?
