Preflop:
With a small pocket pair you want either a lot of company or very little company. Openlimping from MP2 isn't likely to result in either. Generally either fold or raise.
However, If the table has been loose and passive there of course is a chance that you get lot of callers still from behind.

Flop:
I raise. Maybe he has an Ace but for the vast majority of times he doesn't. I wouldn't mind if Villain folds his most probably two overcards on the flop. Protection and value are my motivation to raise. I even could find an easy fold to 3-bet as villain isn't too aggro.

Turn and river play themselves after you get very lucky.
