I, as you do, believe there's a good shot our nitty Villain has a set here. However, we're getting better than 2:1 on our money and it's still very possible for Villain to have 66-88, TT-JJ "seeing where he's at" and then shutting down on turn. Of course, there's nothing to stop him from turning 66 into a bluff on the turn, but generally, nits don't want to get all the money in without the nuts, and, what's more, he doesn't have enough experience with Hero to know that he lays down overpairs.
