You left out the biggest reason. Marble Madness is an only ok game with no plot and little replay value. It's fun but not to play for hours like some of these games.

Er...plot is something that pre-rendered cut-scene RPG fanboys are supposed to be concerned with. It does not apply to NES games, and there's nothing wrong with that.
