That's the other side of what I was getting at. As played, you showed weakness on the turn. That means that if he had a flush he would probably bet the river, but seeing as he checked (also showing weakness), you can now assume your hand is good and bet for value.

Come to think of it, it's the very same outcome, bet-wise, but this way gives you more info on where we are in the hand. AND we get to re-evaluate everything since we saw the river card for free...
