I don't know what you can do to turn your game around.

A bad coach loses with good players.
Nobody wins with bad players.[/list]If you adopt a short stack strategy, you'll take away some of the skill element of the game. That would seem to me to be somewhat to your advantage against more skilled opponents.
But if your opponents really are more skilled card players, I think they'll still find a way to beat you.
If you enjoy the game and can afford it, why don't you experiment and see what works best for you? However, don't gamble with more than you can comfortably afford to lose.
Finally, if you compulsively lose your money gambling, seriously consider getting help at gamblers anonymous.
