The Lindros Bet

I'm not a huge NHL fan but I know that in basketball, football, and baseball this bet would be really -EV. I'd assume the same for NHL.

I'm a former elementary school geography champ/poli sci major and could come within striking distance of the Europe/SA questions but I took one look at the Lindros Q and said 'no way in hell'. Too many people have one good year in between a decade of suckage. Didn't Brady Anderson win an MVP his steroid usage year?

the thing about the hockey hall of fame is they are much more lenient about who they let in. I thought this would help my cause. In the end only 2 all time MVP winners are not in the hall of fame, so it was at least close (albeit a -ev bet with no inside knowledge or odds)

Bill Ranford in 1990 is the one off the top of my head. The Europe bet was plain silly unless you study that stuff for prop bet purposes.

The secret to these bets is to get like 10 subject areas that no sane person knows and memorize them. Then try to work them into your prop bet negotiations. It is a real art to not make it obvious that you know the answers beforehand.

The Edmonton bet is too open to semantics. What exactly constitiutes the surrounding areas? You could argue for hours on this one. If you start to include places 10-15min drive from Edmonton, you get over 1 million easily.
