Well, just ask yourself if you're put in that spot a million times, will you end up a lot richer or a lot poorer?
Personally, I think it was too steep, as you'll probably not be able to extract any more if a diamond hits (and indeed you might be behind a bigger flush draw anyway) - or at least not enough to make the call profitable as part of your 9-diamond/2 jack/3 ten outs.
