I don't think getting rid of him is the right move. Our defense ( and our whole team) is young. Taking out a veteran who is respected in the locker room and who knows the game could set us back. Get the right people for the defense, let the rookies learn, then when his time is up, search for his replacement. Our line is in shambles right now, no reason to take off the most experienced guy.
