the only time i've ever stiffed in a restaurant was in this small desert cafe in little italy. The waitress was a total complete bitch and when I left I flung a nickel down on the table and said "this is more than you deserve". Looking back I wished I had said something wittier.
Since last month about 50% of NYC cabs now have credit card readers. At least 75% of the time I'm in one of those, the driver tries to tell me the card reader doesn't work. When I then explain to him that he needs to hit the "stop" button on his meter and he better do so before I call the police, the card reader is magically fixed, and he then gets no tip. Or a $0.01 tip depending on how much of a dick I feel like.
