When I was in college, my senior year, I was the best player on campus (still not any good, really). Before my senior year, there were two guys better than me (and interestingly, they both post on 2+2).

I didn't make a living at it, or anything, but I did make some college spending money. The trick was that, most of the people willing to gamble at all, knew that I was better than them.

So, I always had to come up with a new, creative gamble.

I got pretty decent at shooting left handed. I got very good shooting one handed (I was 95% as good 1 handed as 2...)

But I'd always have my eye on making more money during a match. One of my favorite tricks was, if I was one game away from winning, shooting at the final ball (8 or 9 ball depending on the game), I'd make a deal that I'd miss the shot on purpose if they'd pay me X (X was usually half the bet...if we were betting $20, I'd miss the 9 ball if they paid me $10). The trick was always to be creative.

It was fun, but like others here have said, the money paled vastly compared to poker.
