Default Re: welcome to the No Fun Century

People need to stop thinking that they can make a situation better when they try to make decisions for others. The blowback is always worse, since a lot of people like to smoke cigarettes or eat fried food, and will resent attempts to stop them.

"Oh! You're gonna tax my fried food? Well then I'm gonna tax bananas and go to Washington to fight with you over the money!"

The delusion that you've thought of a solution that works better than tolerance and an acceptance that humans will make mistakes and life will never be perfect is what accounts for the centralization/statism bias. And mistakes have a habit of putting us in a situation that is not very fun.

It's almost like people just truly don't realize that NOT doing this nonsense is an option to us. All we have to do is stop. We're caged by nothing but our own delusions. Compare that to my pet hamster who doesn't have much of a say in the matter, and it's pretty amazing that we do what we do.
