bright room (natural sunlight)? get an lcd.
otherwise, you could go with either an lcd or a plasma, as lcd PQ and motion blur has improved drastically over the last 2 years.
valuewise, i'd go with a panasonic plasma if you decide you want a plasma, and if you go lcd probably a samsung 1080p. plasmas tend to have a little more visual "pop", but the quality of lcd's has become great, as well.
