I always call these people out and won't relent.

What happens to me a lot is people wedging in front of me at the bar when I was obviously waiting before them. Usually, dudes don't want to look like jerks at the bar and they back off before there's a scene. Some dudes are looking to impress their buds, though, so you gotta make sure you know who's who before you call them on it. Obviously, this judgement depends on relative sizes and who's got your back.
