The thing about constantly developing new stuff is that it tends to make developers skip fixing the old stuff. So people who buy to play offline may be stuck with some of whatever problems there might be for a long time.

It also tends to make whatever you have outdated as they keep on upping the ante with new spells and equipment. So eventually going online will be like starting over, for a veteran, and there may be some severe item-envy. The punitive storage space for offline players suggests strongly that the offline experience is mainly being used as an enticement for online play, and will eventually feel more and more like merely a demo of what the real game is.

So this doesn't look like it will feel like or ever be made to feel like the quality of the online game.
