If you think he might hold QQ-AA here, why aren't you folding the flop? You could've bet out for $12 or something and if you'd gotten raised, you could've folded knowing there was a good chance he had you. Check-calling tells you nothing about what he might have because it's a standard c-bet. Checking the turn then opened the door for him to bluff if he does hold an AK type hand that missed.
