Check out Bend, Oregon and surrounding cities. You have Mt. Bachelor at your doorstep in the winter, can find a really nice place for 600k, and it's in a blossoming real estate market. On top of that, in the summer there is a TON of stuff to do and you have world class golf courses to play with.
