I wouldn't consider that against the rules (though nobody asked).

My "no talking about the challenge privately" is to simulate the BB conditions... everybody in the backyard, doing the challenge together. Sure, you can make a deal with someone... but everyone else is going to see it

Maybe I should make that clear for future challenges.

EDIT: But, from what I understand, this isn't happening, either.
