Blame the Sierra Club... they are the ones who dont want the dry brush removed.... the stars are likely donating mucho dollars to support those whackies at Sierra, all to put their own homes at risk.

The Sierra Club strongly supports prescribed burns as a way to restore fire's natural role to the forest. Sierra Club supports fuel reduction projects near homes and communities. For a decade the Sierra Club has been urging the Forest Service to do more prescribed burning, reduce flammable brush near communities and we've been asking Congress to devote more money to do the job right. The Forest Service should stop pushing for commercial logging and put more resources towards protecting lives and communities.

Controlled burns aren't a panacea either. Forest service did one years ago (around 2000 I believe) around Los Alamos and it ended up burning half the town to the ground. Is most of the land that has burned/is burning owned by the Feds? Probably alot but not sure how much. For the land not owned by the Feds, not sure how equipped California is for doing controlled burns and such. Doubt if they are. And even if so, federal land abuts with state and city alot so it has to be coordinated.

Glad this thread morphed from a troll by OP to something useful.
