If villain limped pre and then donked this flop, I'm much more inclined to raise. Villain can take a stab at this pot with a lot of whiffed hands as well as pocket pairs. I found that raising in these spots takes it down a lot of the time, which is a good result imo. Besides, the pot is not so big as in a RR pot, so if we get reraised we can easily fold.
However when he raises pre and leads into this flop, I think his range now consists of a lot more decent PP's, which he is not planning to fold most of the time. His 3b all in gave you a tough decision, which you could have prevented by not raising.
