He will get treated the same way as Groucho Marx, Cary Grant and Gene Kelly when he dies. Old people (i.e. us)will be the ones who remember how great he was.

Most of these are only relevant if they die like in the next few years while they're still "big". That's why I don't think Ali is a good answer, because his time is waaaaaaaay past. In fact, Paul McCartney probably wasn't a good choice by me even though John Lenon's death did fall into this category.
