Because if you raise flop and he pushes you won't now what to do and you will have to waste time posting the hand in 2p2 where no one else will know what to do either. But if you are beat and villian is a nit then he might check river with AA after seeing you call 2 streets and you will save a little money. He also might get stubbon and keep firing QQ/JJ/AQ whereas he would just fold these to a flop raise. You will also save on rake if he has the other AK when river gets checked down.

Huh? First, only raise the flop if you intend to call a shove since you'll be getting close to 3 to 1. Second, the reason one would call down here instead of raising is if raising manipulates his range to one that has you crushed (i.e., it's effectively a bluff) but calling keeps Villain in the lead with a wide enough range that you can profitably call.

If he's the nit OP says he is and will never pay off with worse, then call the flop bet, c/c a reasonable bet on the turn, and c/f the river. Otherwise, you flopped TPTK in a 3-bet pot so get the money in however you want. But DON'T raise the flop if you intend to fold to a shove.
