I think the prime reason is that trading is such a specific skill set. You learn how to trade and nothing else. I wouldn't want to trade for the rest of my life, so I am interested in doing something that teaches me a ton and opens up opportunities rather than limits them.

Definitely a good reason, another thing to consider is the significantly more stable line of income. It's not like trading is easy money.
