I like your line for the following reasons.

If you bet, then he probably folds TPWK or worse unless he has the K or Q of diamonds, or he already has a flush/set/two-pair, in which case he'll probably raise and you have to play a big pot OOP. Check/call looks like you have a hand like AdKx or AxKd inducing him to bet to "protect" his 1-pair hand on the flop and turn.

On the river, when the board pairs, he either has a full house or a flush, in which case this passive player will raise your $100, or else he still has 1-pair and he will call becaue you might have been "bluffing with missed overcards and one diamond."

I think this line wins a little when you win, and loses a little when you lose. A bet/bet/bet line scares off most worse hands and pays off too many better ones, I think.
