For a while, anyway, Rio was allowing folks to run it twice in the NL2/5 game. Dunno if that was a passing fad.

Taking chips out? Not normally. But I have seen a situation exactly as described already where it was AA vs AA and the old, experienced guy offered to chop it with the obviously new and playing scared youngster for whom losing his whole stack to 4 flush cards on the board would be crushing. Dealer allowed it, table didn't complain, floor didn't get called. Kid seemed extremely grateful not to have to risk his stack on a coin flip (even though the only way he could lose the coin flip was if the coin landed on its edge).
