Well an OESD isn't a monster draw. You have 8 outs, so you're about 32% to win by the river. I wouldn't be betting the pot, that sort of gives you bad odds. When you come to the turn, NOW you have a monster, but it's not really a monster because you only get one shot at it.
You have 9 flush outs + 6 straight outs = 15 outs = 30% to hit on the river. Again, that's a little less than 1 in 3, and I don't think enough to be betting the pot.
It's about pot control, you can pump the pot with a monster (i.e. OESFD, Flush draw with 2 overs, etc.), but an OESD is like top pair, it's a mediocre hand. It can win, but you shouldn't be building big pots without a made hand.
