Yes I am unfamiliar with it. When I started playing poker there were books but they were hard to get so no one read them. It wasn't like now where there is an entire shelf at Chapters devoted to poker. There also was no online game so 3-6 / 5-10 was the lowest you were going to find.
There has always been bad players but if you compare the level of play between the pre-book, pre-poker on TV 24/7 and now it is like night and day. The game is so much easier now then it use to be yet the percentage of players who read books has increased dramatically.
