Wow,a completely different calibre of contenstat from Top Chef, these guys are legit.

My girlfriend and I think that there are about eight Top Chef contestants who would have rolled these cats if they got NINETY minutes for each of two desserts. It would have been the laziest quickfire ever. Hung alone could have made ten good desserts if he had that kind of time. Plus, several of them didn't even attempt to do a "savory" dessert, which is nuts.

I know their resumes are strong and all, but something just seems off. They didn't seem as impressive in this challenge as I think a lot of the Top Chefs would have.

WTF with "you've used this in your restaurant." So the challenge is to create an unusual dessert out of thin air? What level of existing knowledge is allowed? Did they even explain that new-ness was one of the criteria? This put me on total tilt. Maybe they should have had to work blindfolded too.

Also WTF with the broken freezer. How does that happen? SamIAm good point re: product placement.

Judges' table should show more judge deliberation. We don't have to see tiny snippets of commentary on every single dish.

I'll still watch it because I do think it has potential, but the first episode struck me as a boring copy of Top Chef. If it doesn't improve, I may have to toss it out of my TV rotation in one of the Glad family of products.
