OP, it is way outside the realm of my knowledge. However, a former technical consultant of mine quit his job earlier this year to fulfill his dream of owning a garage (no joke). He's been at it for about six months now. I could ask him how he has gone about finding good people and report back.
On the one hand, I would think the failure rate on this stuff would be really high. On the other, don't qualified mechanics actually make decent coin? I guess "qualified mechanics" don't work at lube/oil/filter joints though...
