By no coffee do you mean no caffeine?

Years ago when I needed to play 80 hours a week plus drive about 1500km a week between games I found that alternating between caffeine pills, ephedrine, and a vitamin B supplement worked great. Disregard the recommended dosage. I use to take 3-4 of each every 3 hours.

Now I find 5 Hour Energy works. There are also plenty of energy drinks. I still drink Red Bull although I've been told there are better options.

I also have a workout supplement called NO-Xplode. I use it before workouts but a few times when I didn't have any 5 Hour Energy I drank it as a energy drink and works amazing.

My girlfriend swears by SoBe Green Tea

If he really means no drugs, then none of this is going to help him.

5 hour energy and Sobe Green (guaranine is actually just caffeine) Tea both contain caffeine.
Looking at the ingredient list of your supplement, it claims to have methylxanthine in it. (Nobody is regulating the contents, so it may or may not.) Presumably they are just trying to be mysterious on their label. That's just caffeine too.

And I'd stay clear of the caffeine and ephedrine together. This was the combination that likely caused the ephedrine deaths. I never saw anything that convinced me that it was acutely dangerous as a combination used at lower doses in young people without structural heart disease or medication interaction. However, I used to specifically advise people against based on limited benefit and possible risk. (It hasn't come up in a while...no geriatric patient has ever asked me about NO-Xplode.) Please note that St. John's Wort is contraindicated in combination with ephedrine for possible serotonin syndrome.
