Considering trying a satellite or two for the $10k tourney at Fallsview.

I'm not experienced with large tourneys like this so I was wondering if anyone could comment on a few questions I have.

There's a $90 satellite, 1 table. Winner gets entry into $640 satellite (2 tables, winner of that gets entry into main event, 2nd gets entry into another higher satellite, 3rd gets re-entry into $640).

My question involves the blind structure in the $90. You start with $1000, blinds go up every 10 minutes. So after ten minutes, you're already at 50-100 = 10 BBs. This seems ridiculous to me; do most satellites function like this? Live hands seem to take 2-3 minutes so is there really any point in trying to play poker instead of just pushing with decent hands and hoping to get lucky?

Any insight is appreciated.

I've played the 90s, the 160s and the 1200s at Fallsview for the wpt event.

The competition is ridiculously soft, for the most part, so that's something to note to start. The 90s and 160s are designed to be over in a couple hours and ARE crapshoots, but definitely with a little bit of an edge towards the better players. The same guys consistently play them all day (grinders just building their roll) and there's so many repeat winners beating up on tourists that there's a small market for the 1200s and 10k seats, already.

If you want a slow structure, you're going to have to jump straight to the 1200s or the step2 for the 90s, atleast.

They run the big tournament only on saturdays for now, but come 1 week before the event I hear they run the 1200s pretty much 24/7 until it begins.
