Its pretty easy to give yourself a "must have 20+bbs" or whatever rule when it comes to bankroll management. Quite frankly, if you're a winning player, rules like this will cripple you. If you're a losing player, it delays the inevitable.

So you have 800$ and are currently playing 25NL.

How many tables do you play?
How is your table selection?
How confident are you with your game?

If you are playing 3+ tables, are confident with your game, and you are good at table selecting - here is what you do:
Open up a few of your 25$ tables but keep an eye on the 50$ ones. Datamine if possible. When you see a table that you KNOW you can beat, sit. Why not? Set a stop-loss of 2 buyins, and make yourself leave if you notice you are not playing your A game. Absolute worst case scenario you lose 100$ and keep grinding for a while. Best case scenario, you run well, gain confidence, and permanently increase your earn.

Taking shots is great if you're smart about it. FRNLers dont do it enough.
