Instead of him intentionally recommending the wrong way to move the lines for his own selfish purposes is it possible that Dr. Bob used to be good but now has partly lost his mind or something.

The guy may even be tilting somewhat and doubting himself and therefore pressing a bit with some of these weird trends. And the over-emphasis on yppl may also be part of some of this 'pressing' to find what he considers exploitable lines.

I know I'm not the greatest sports-bettor in the universe so maybe my opinion is borderline worthless when analyzing the success of someone smarter than me and obviously is results-oriented these days. But some of his picks just seem downright goofy.
Yeah, Notre Dame has been pretty awful. But they were very obviously getting better. And UCLA can be pretty damned inconsistent. So counting on them to winb by 22+ at home as a 4* play just seems really really odd. I can understand thinking they are a favorite at that line because of how bad ND had been and that UCLA maybe had turned it around. But there's no way they should be a 4* pick for that one.
