Default Re: Tunica

Comps are so easy at the Horseshoe. Call the room in advance for poker rate. They put you at the Grand, but it's fine unless you plan to be drinking -- Tunica has enforcement of DUI laws. It's a really short drive. There's also a shuttle but it's complicated. You take the shuttle from the Horseshoe to the Grand Casino, and catch a second shuttle that goes around the Grand property to take you to the Grand Verandah, which is where you as a poker player will likely be staying. But for $30 a night ($40 some weekend nights) it's probably worth a little hassle.

It doesn't always go, but there's a good 20/40 LHE at Horseshoe. You can get food free of charge brought to the table, fast food type stuff like cheeseburgers, Philadelphia cheesesteak, etc. Check the menu at "Ace High" nearby to get an idea. You can also get a buffet for two which is good for I think 72 hours, but we always eat it sooner than that, for instance at lunch or breakfast the next day.

A little joke someone told me the first time at Tunica. "Ever play 4/8? Well, 20/40 plays just like that." If both 10/20 and 20/40 are running, play the bigger game. In my limited sample size, the bigger game is looser and there can be a nice amount of dead money in the pot. I don't play NL so I won't speak to that.
