Default Re: Pokerstars vs. Tournament Results Tracking Sites

[ QUOTE ]
Hell, I could write a program that imports, tracks, and sorts through tourney data and ranks players and profit/loss pretty easily. How would they stop me from doing that?

Stars has the technical ability to stop you. You need to get 100% coverage. Your script is going to request emailed results for every tournament? They will choose not to send you the results. Your script is going to open the tournament windows to get the results? Your script just got much more complex, and they can still identify you and block you. You spread your tournament data-mining over many accounts? Now it's a cat and mouse game and you have to be one smart mouse to beat the team at Stars.

Stars has the technical chops to set whatever policy they want. There is a market for the data and they won't send lawyers after you, so if you think you can beat them, good luck, you might make some money.
