I suspect you don't have kids. The Beatles serve as the introduction to pop or rock for many kids. Their movies are very kid-friendly. And they have music that both parents and kids can tolerate.

Yellow Submarine has been called one of the best kid's songs ever. Octopus's Garden is another great one. Lots of the Beatles songs are about love or are just light fun. And though you have to pick and choose, some of their later stuff and some of the solo stuff John did(Julia, In My Life, Beautiful Boy, Imagine, Aisumaisen(sp?)) are about as family friendly as you can get.
