My wife got in on a work visa after we were married (sponsored by her work) and the paperwork making her a landed immigrant took all of 2 months to process... If you're a poker player however, I'm sure it'll involve alot more hoop-jumping.
I'd suggest you take a two week vacation to Vancouver (or wherever you're thinking of moving) for two reasons - find out what the city is like (come up sometime in the winter), and to try to find a Canadian to marry.
